Mission:
To provide enrichment programs that are appropriate for children with ADHD, speech/language delays, Learning Disabilities, Asperger’s Syndrome, PDD or any social and emotional problems.

SNAAC is a non-sectarian program that provides scholarships and 1:1 assistants.

Approach:
A combination of teamwork, opportunity, and encouragement is all a child with special needs requires to be successful at SNAAC. With small classes, in a warm nurturing atmosphere, your child will succeed at those activities in which she or he wishes to participate. Self-esteem will be cultivated, creativity will be encouraged and friendships will be developed. Our staff includes a team of dedicated educators and therapists well known in their respective fields.  These programs are made available through grants from UJA Federation of NY. OMRDD.

Sundays, 9:00am –
Noon for Pre-K to 18 years old
Fall Sessions begin Sunday October 17, 2010

Pre-K through 6th Grade
Join us for an all-inclusive program which includes Sports, Social Skills, Speech, Art, Computer, Yoga, Gymnastics, Music and Theatre.  Small groups with individual attention!  Groups will be divided by ability and age. 

13-18 Year Old Integrated Group
Teens with special needs and teens peer volunteers will meet for 3 hours featuring Sports, Social Skills, Human Development, Computers, Art, Music and Theatre.

Parents, grandparents and caretakers group meets once a month on Sundays.

SUMMER: July 11, 2010 - August 15, 2010 (6 weeks) (Pre-K - 10 years old)

October 17, 2010 - February 13, 2011 (13 weeks)

SNAAC After School Programs

Fall: October 19, 2010 - February 9, 2011 (16 weeks)
Spring: March 8, 2011 - June 21, 2011 (13 weeks)
Pre-K  Social Skills Wednesday and Thursday.
1st - 3rd grade (4:00-5:00pm) Social Skills
Classes are personalized to support each child's individualized needs.

Circle of Friends
Ages 20 -adult
Led by Alyssa Rapko, M.S.W.


These groups provides venues for individuals ages 21 and older who identify themselves as having special needs, to gather on a regular basis and enrich their social lives by planning activities based on mutual interest.

Volunteering and Community Service
We offer 12 and 13 year-olds a chance to participate in our Bar/Bat Mitzvah project by doing volunteer work on Sunday/ Funday.   In addition, high school students volunteer for their community service requirements. All volunteers receive full training by our staff.

SIB CONNECTION
OPENING SESSION October 20, 2010

Ages 6-15                           16 year olds become assistants!

SIB CONNECTION provides a therapeutic support group for siblings that have brothers and sisters with special needs. It gives them the unique opportunity in a confidential group to:
  • To meet other siblings for peer support.
  • To have an opportunity to discuss, share, and work through concerns, problems and feelings with other siblings.
  • To learn how to handle the many situations experienced by other siblings like themselves.
  • To learn that they are not alone.  A support group for parents of children in Sib Connection will be offered once a month.


Matan at the JCC - The Gift of Jewish Learning for Every Child 
With Jewish educators, special educators, and educational consultants and administrators, MATAN offers self-contained religious school classes meeting once a week, in addition to family Jewish holiday celebrations and programs.  For more information visit the MATAN’s website at: www.matankids.org.  MATAN classes can be scheduled back to back with Sunday Funday and SNAAC programs.

Jewish Holiday Celebrations for Special Needs Children and Their Families (MATAN) 
MATAN offers Jewish holiday celebrations in a structured and supervised low-key environment, which takes into account children’s special needs. Birthday Parties Customized for Children with Special NeedsSports or Gymnastics*

3-10 years; *must be 4 years old for gymnastics

Sundays, 2:00-3:30pm

Sports parties will also be offered on Saturdays, 3:00-4:30pm

$415/members for 12 children

$25.00 additional fee per child for 15 children


Participate in a sports or gymnastics party geared to your child’s ability. Food (must be kosher) and party favors not included. Registration fee required.

About the Director, Charley Moskowitz, LMSW
Charley Moskowitz has worked for the past twenty years with children with special needs. Earning her M.S.W. from Fordham
University, she went on to work with Pediatric HIV, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (S.I.D.S.), Pediatric Hospice and Maternal Child
Health. Formally the social worker at Towards Tomorrow, she brings her expertise to the SNAAC program. As the Director of the
Special Services Enrichment Program at the JCC of Mid-Westchester, she continues to be involved with a personal hands-on
approach. In her spare time Charley Moskowitz has a private practice for children and their families. She has and continues to
participate in the development of higher learning through the supervision and mentoring of graduate students and has gained the
reputation of a dedicated educator.
